Playlist/Curated Videos
Adding a Curated list of Videos (Playlist) to a Channel Section allows you to display the exact videos you want on that channel. It's like a playlist of sorts.
Before you can add them to a channel, you need to have created a section for them. If you haven't already done this please refer to the guide on Setting up Tabs & the Landing page.
Instructions
Now you've selected Content Listing
as the Tab Type
you will get some new fields to complete.
The first one will be View
, this needs to be set to Group
and there are no other options so you can ignore this field.
In order to show a playlist (curated video list) in this section, the Display
will need to be set to the following option:
- Playlist - selecting this adds an extra field underneath the Tab Type giving you the ability to create an playlist. Once you add a video, you can then add another and so on.
Once you've chosen what will be displayed you'll need to set the Arguments
so the correct information will be displayed. You'll need to set the id
part of the argument to the id of the tab you're setting the playlist up on. To grab that id you can save the tab, visit it on the front end of the website, then edit it. In the address bar you'll see the id number
of the tab you're editing, make note of this.
Now that you've got the id
you can use this arguments guide to configure them.
Once you're done, click Create Section
or Update Section
if you're editing a previously created section.
Saving the channel will make the section name appear
Once you've pressed Create Section you may notice the section you've just created won't have a title in the section list even though you added it in the field. It won't appear until you save the channel.
List of Playlist Videos in the Sidebar
On the US site when a channel has a playlist, if you watch a video from that playlist, the video will have a list of all the videos from the playlist in the sidebar (like personal playlists do). There is a limit of the number of videos shown, the max is 20. If this isn't showing, check the URL contains a 'chplx' id.
For example at the end of the URL should display something like this: ...munity?channel=5712&chplx=5711
