Workflows

Introduction

US & Canada Only

We've implemented workflows on Canada and the US to help control errors with content going out. It means any normal editor will need to create content and a moderator will have to publish it for them.

Editor Workflow

As a user the setup for a Channel or a Video is the same as normal; follow the guides linked above. There is only one difference and that is when it comes to publishing.

If you don't change anything, the channel/video is saved as a draft. When the channel/video is ready to be published, you need to go to the bottom of the page and make sure you change the status in the dropdown labelled Change to: to needs review; this is the only way a moderator will see the channel/video in the needs approval list.

Explanations of the different Statuses:

Draft - this publishing status should be used when something isn't finished yet, and you need to save the channel/video you're working on.

Needs review - Once the channel/video you're working on is ready to be published, you need to set it to this status so a moderator can take a look and publish it.

If you have permission to publish videos, you will see two additional options:

Published - selecting this option means when you hit save, the changes will go live immediately.

Unpublished - selecting this option will mean the content will become unpublished and normal users will not be able to see it. Admins will still be able to see it, but will get a warning saying the content is unpublished at the top of the page.

Moderator Workflow

For a moderator there is a little more to it compared to an editor. Moderators will see a section labelled Moderated content when you visit Admin > Content underneath the content tab. Here you can view all the nodes which are ready to review and publish or are just unpublished.

Once you've reviewed the node (channel/video) and are happy to publish, edit the node and change the status at the bottom from needs review to Published. Done!

Unpublishing

Due to the workflow setup on the US site, bulk unpublishing must be done using the Unpublish current revision command rather than the Unpublish command.
