VPN Access

Note

The VPN is currently only available for UK based staff.

Sometimes it is essential to maintain security by connecting via a secure connection to a known network. This is where the VPN comes in. When connecting to services or systems that are limited to certain IP address ranges you may utilise the VPN to guarantee a traceable, consistent and secure connection.

Getting Started

You can access the VPN via the Google App launcher. Click the icon in the top right of the screen and select the UK VPN icon at the bottom of the list.

App Launcher

You will be prompted to log in with your Google account. Once logged in you will be presented with the available downloads for your operating system. Simply download the appropriate version and install it.

Connecting

You will need to run the new Open VPN Connect application that has been installed, if your user profile was included in the download you will simply need to toggle the switch to connect.

Alternatively if you don't have a profile you may download your user profile from the previous step via the web interface. Once downloaded you can import the profile into the Open VPN Connect application and connect.

Important

Please ensure you only use the VPN when absolutely necessary. The VPN is a shared resource and should not be used for general browsing, uploading media content or streaming video. If you are unsure if you should be using the VPN please contact the IT team.

Disconnecting

To disconnect from the VPN simply return to the application and toggle the switch to disconnect.

General Notes

  • Ensure you are using the latest version of the Open VPN Connect application.
  • Ensure whenever possible you use a secure wireless network, you should not access company systems or services over public wireless networks.

Info

The VPN is NOT required for anyone in the London office as we whitelist this IP address to key systems, it should only be used under special circumstances and pre-arranged with the IT team.
